Overview

Made for the way British contractors actually work.

The R18 PRO is engineered for the messy end of groundworks — root balls, rubble, stone-strewn topsoil and land reclamation. Heavier boom pins, stronger undercarriage components and a stiffer chassis than the R15 ECO, without stepping up into cab-class weight or transport hassle.

It is the machine contractors turn to when clearing overgrown plots, restoring smallholdings, lifting old tree stumps or dealing with the ground a 1.5-tonne all-rounder gave up on. Full auxiliary hydraulics keep breakers, rippers and thumbs earning their keep alongside the bucket.

Ashmoors specifies, inspects and prepares this machine for the UK market, supplies it and remains responsible for its UK warranty, parts, servicing and technical support. It is manufactured by RIPPA under its original model code.

Best for

  • Land clearance
  • Stump & root removal
  • Reclamation & restoration
  • Farm & smallholding groundworks

Engineered detail

Where the R18 earns its keep.

01

Heavy-duty structural spec

Uprated boom pins, thicker chassis plate and reinforced track frames shrug off the impacts that shorten the life of a standard 1.5-tonne machine.

02

Ripper and thumb ready

Hydraulic circuit and mounting spec suit hydraulic thumbs, rippers and rock buckets — the kit that turns land clearance from a slog into a proper day's work.

03

Built for British sites

Hoses, seals and electrics specified for wet winters and long days. Proven Kubota, Yanmar or Cummins power on many models, with sensible service intervals.

04

Ashmoors UK support

Ashmoors remains your UK point of contact for warranty, servicing, parts and technical support throughout ownership.

FAQs

Questions we hear a lot.

What engine is fitted to the R18?+

The Ashmoors R18 Mini Excavator is fitted with a Kubota D902 diesel, 11.8 kW, as published in the manufacturer's specification. The full specification table on this page lists every confirmed figure for the machine.

What does the R18 weigh, and can it be towed in the UK?+

The R18 is quoted at 1,933 kg. Add the tare weight of your plant trailer, typically 700-800 kg for a braked 3.5-tonne trailer, to get the towed weight, then check that total against your trailer plate, your towing vehicle's limits and your licence entitlement before travelling. Machines above roughly 8 tonnes are delivered by low-loader instead.

How deep does the R18 dig?+

Maximum digging depth for the R18 is 2,420 mm. If your job has a fixed depth requirement — drainage runs, foundations or service trenches — tell us the depth and we will confirm whether this machine reaches it or point you to the next class up.

What warranty does the R18 come with?+

Every R18 comes with a 12-month parts warranty, with warranty claims handled for you in the UK by Ashmoors. The engine also carries the engine manufacturer's own warranty, and extended cover can be quoted on request. Full terms are confirmed in writing with your order.

How quickly can the R18 be delivered?+

Machines are held in stock in the UK. Mainland UK delivery is typically 3–5 working days from cleared payment, fully insured, and we confirm a delivery day with you in advance. Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland are arranged on request.

Are spare parts held in the UK?+

Contact Ashmoors with the R18 serial number and required part. We will confirm compatibility, availability and delivery before you order.

Can I finance the R18?+

Finance options may include hire purchase and finance lease through UK-regulated funders. Terms and monthly figures depend on the machine, deposit, term and applicant status.

Do I need a CPCS ticket to operate this machine?+

Operator ticketing requirements depend on the site, insurance and duty. For most domestic and light-commercial work the R18 does not legally require CPCS, but many hire firms and main contractors will still require an appropriate ticket. Speak to your site's health & safety lead.

What attachments fit the R18?+

Heavy-duty bucket, Trenching bucket, Ripper tooth, Hydraulic thumb, Hydraulic breaker, Rake — plus most common auxiliary-hydraulic attachments sized for the class.

Where can I compare the R18 against other mini excavators?+

Every machine in the Mini Excavators range is listed at /machinery/mini-excavators. Call us and we'll walk you through the spec differences against the closest alternatives — we'd rather sell you the right machine than the biggest one.

Do you sell used mini excavators?+

Our listed range is new machinery. Contact the Ashmoors team to ask about current availability.
