Choosing a machine

Choosing a wheel loader

Compact loaders live and die by tipping load — the honest figure at full articulation, not the straight-ahead number.

600 kg – 1T rated

Yard & smallholding

Livestock feeding, log yards, small builders' merchants. Tight turning, no ground damage, sits on a standard car-and-trailer.

1.5T – 3T rated

Farm & construction

Muck, aggregate, pallet handling, silage clamp. Enough hydraulic flow for grabs, buckets and shear-grab attachments.

3T – 5T rated

Yard production

Timber, quarry and heavy aggregate. Full-size Q-fit or Euro hitch, air-con cab, road-legal at speed between yards.

Confirm quick-hitch standard (Euro, SMS or Q-fit) so existing buckets and forks carry across.

FAQs

Questions UK buyers ask.

Not seeing yours? Ask our UK team — tell us the job and we will recommend the right machine.

What does rated tipping load mean on a compact wheel loader?+

It is the load the loader can handle safely, measured at full articulation rather than straight ahead, which is the honest figure for yard work. The range covers roughly 600 kg to 5,000 kg rated, so size it to your heaviest routine load, not your lightest.

Which quick-hitch standard is fitted?+

Hitch standard varies by size class — Euro, SMS and Q-fit are all common in the UK. Confirm the standard with us before ordering so your existing buckets, forks and grabs carry across without an adapter plate.

Is a compact wheel loader better than a skid steer for yard work?+

For loading bulk material all day a wheel loader is faster, gentler on hard surfaces and cheaper per bucket. A tracked skid steer wins on soft ground, tight access and attachment versatility. If you load far more than you dig, the loader is the right machine.

Can a compact loader be used on a farm or smallholding?+

Yes. The 600 kg to 1-tonne rated class handles livestock feeding, log yards and small merchant work with tight turning and minimal ground damage, and sits on a standard car-and-trailer outfit. Silage, muck and pallet handling need the 1.5-3 tonne class.
